Many of you have asked how did I make step by step the Valentine's Day Vision Boards posted to this blog, www.visionboard.info earlier this week
by Joyce Schwarz best selling author of THE VISION BOARD book blogging at www.visionboard.info So I'm going to reveal this method of making Valentines Vision Boards which serve as both tribute board and acknowledgement of the LOVE IN YOUR LIFE. Here are the directions step by step. ENJOY.
HOW AND WHEN TO USE FAMILY PHOTOS ON A VISION BOARD
for those of you camera bugs out there and who isn't now with the proliferation of mobile phone cameras and digital and video cams, you'll enjoy knowing that you can use your own snaps anytime. So often my coaching clients or even my Certified Vision Board Coaches (www.visionboardinstitute.com) ask me how do I find the perfect picture that signifies and embodies one of my power words such as abundance or love ?
Of course you can turn to Flickr or Google or Bing Images to find your fave pix but you can also go out and take a picture that may have even more emotional significance to you. Good news is that gets you into inspired action and starts to make you live your vision even before your board is completed. So go ahead and take pictures and put them into your Kodak Gallery Account or on Flckr (be sure to adjust privacy settings if you want them just for your eyes only) or even print them out via your Walgreen's photo account.
STEP BY STEP HOW TO MAKE A VALENTINE'S DAY VISON BOARD using family photographs:
1) Visioning -- as you know all of the vision boards that we create at the Vision Board Institute(www.visionboardinstitute.com) start with a visioning proecess where your intention comes from the inside to out to guide your vision like roadsign on a highway. After all your Vision Board is meant to serve as your personal GPS system, virtually guiding you to stay on track to your vision. Begin your visioning session by asking yourself, your God, your higher power or creative source what does Valentines Day mean to me in its warmest sense. Who can I be truly grateful for in helping me to keep my heart open? Who has helped make my life sweeter? Is there one dream or wish I have for them? Is there a key phrase or common word or image that we havein common that I should share on my vision board? It's often easier to focus on others first and then come back to the center of LOVE -- YOU and your higher power. In your mind's eye see yourself surrounded by a pink light of LOVE and warmth. Feel the sensation of being hugged during those few minutes, remember the taste of a wet, slobby kiss by your 4 year old daughter or a forehead peck from your dad. Let the good sensations overpower any negativity and remember and cherish the love in your life that you may have just called friend or caring before. Relish it and honor it as LOVE.
2) PICK A CATEGORY -- during your visioning or right after while you're still in that mood of revery, pick a category like FAMILY, FRIENDS, CO-WORKERS, TEAM and ofr course "YOU" that you'd like to feature, acknowledge and honor for Valentines Day this year. For me that was Family, Friends and Myself.
3) THEME -- if you have theme or a favorite song that comes to mind that seems to provide momentum for your Valentine's Love Adventure jot the name of it down and then search the Internet or your iPod or iTunes for the lyrics or song itself so that you can narrow it down to one phrase.
For me this week it was the Hallmark Valentines Day commercials which use the tagline "I LOVE US" it just charmed me and I thought why not be grateful for the US in my life. On this day as I write this blog Egypt is celebrating a new day -- so your theme may come from some good news like that -- perhaps a theme of Peace or actually use the phrase "NEW DAY".
4) OPEN UP YOUR PHOTO ALBUMS with that theme in mind -- remember for me it was " I LOVE US" so as some of you know I'm grateful this Valentines Day that my mom is out of the hospital and into rehab and riding the bicycle there and getting stronger each day. SO I decided I would honor her in the Center of my Family Vision Board -- actually I decided that when the minute I saw the lovely picture of her in the heart dress that I had stored over at SHUTTERFLY from a Mother's Day album I had made for her years ago. As soon as I saw the hearts I knew it was right. Then I paged through and lately I'm fascinated with the ancestry shows on TV -- WHO ARE YOU? kinds of shows on TLC and NBC so I added the picturesof me as a young child with my great grandmother and my grandfather to add a sense of perspective of a broader family scene to my board. Those three pictures seemed ENOUGH -- I could have honored my brother, my aunt my cousin my father or others but right now these three seemed to make me HAPPY when I looked at them. So that became the one word I added to the center of the board. You might pick several words or a quote or you might do our PICK THREE Intuition quiz exercise you can see on a previous blog posted here at www.visionboard.info to highlight your Valentines Day Board.
5) DESIGN --
For all three of my Valentines Day Vision Boards I selected a cross between nostalgia and romance for the "look" of the board. I created these boards digitally but you can do the same if you're designing them by hand. I put down a background first and then added the pictures and THEN added the embellishments and frames to the scheme. Remember there are scads of digital scrapbook freebie themes that you can use online to make Vision Boards too. After the background, pictures, frames and embellishments I added the quotes or little decorations to catch my eye. And then I added more fluff -- more roses, more hearts, more sparkle and more flourish. Almost in this case as if I were decorating a cake. I wanted to stay WITH the vision of love while I was creating the board. REMEMBER THE GOOD TIMES...LOVE DOES MAKE THE WORLD GO ROUND. FInally, I took a screengrab of each board and shared it with YOU! Note each board took less than 20 minutes to make. The whole process took less then 2 hours -- but you could spend an evening making a couples board or a weekend making a family board. Thereis no time limit and remember a board is a work in progress update it, change it, LOVE IT! PS I used www.faceinhole.com to turn my picture into the QUEEN OF HEARTS -- no costume and NO DOLLARS SPENT -- all of the material I used for my board was FREE or I had previously purchased such as embellishments from scrapbooking sites or had in my digital archive files!
